Ohio State University/RideSolutions Vanpool Program
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does vanpooling cost?
Riding on a vanpool is based on the mileage the van is traveling all month. Each vanpool will have a different price. Contact your vanpool developer for van pricing on your route.
Does everyone on the van have to wear a seatbelt? >
We follow state regulations, which declare that every passenger must wear a seat belt while in the van. If the installed seat belts do not fit, seat belt extenders can be order through RideSolutions/VPSI
Who can drive the van?
The approved primary driver and up to four (4) alternate drivers is allowed to drive the vehicle. Only approved drivers can drive the van.
How do I become a driver of the vanpool vehicle?
To become a driver of the vanpool vehicle, contact Patty Olmsted, at RideSolutions to go forth with the driver's application process. Contact Patty at 614-233-4133 or toll free 1-888-742-RIDE (7433)
If I decide the van is not working out for me, how do I leave?
Every vanpool rider who chooses to leave the vanpool program must give the primary driver and RideSolutions at least 30 days notice in writing (email is acceptable). Please email Patty, the vanpool program developer at RideSolutions at polmsted@morpc.org if you are a rider. This notice allows us time to find someone to fill the seat. Primary Drivers are required to provide 30 days written notice to VPSI and RideSolutions if the van will be returned.
Can I still keep my parking permit if I join a vanpool?
Any OSU faculty or staff who joins a van pool may still purchase an OSU parking permit (annual, quarterly, or monthly) if they desire. We also have daily coupons they can buy and retain for the days they may need to drive individually.
Where do vanpool groups park on campus?
We are willing to designate a space in an area parking lot that meets the needs of the van pool. Where that space is located will need to be determined based upon the preference of the pool members.
